Here are our amazing superstars for this week!
This week, librarians from Te Hāpua, the Halswell Library, came to visit Huritini to talk about Matariki. We learnt all about the stars, and the special meaning each star has! Thank you for coming to Halswell School. We loved having you Te Hāpua!
Over the last 2 weeks, we have been exploring the scientific concepts of day and night and how important our sun is.
While doing these activities Tī Kōuka has been doing a fantastic job of showing Kotahitanga.
"We made a model of the Earth and moon orbiting the sun" (Eliza)
We took turns teaching and helping a buddy how to do it. Once we learned how to do it we could help someone else. We tried really hard not to do it all for our buddy but instead tried to explain to them how to do it themself. For our shadow experiment, we also had to work together and take turns.
We helped each other use Book Creator to take photos and share our thinking.
Take a look as we 'launch' into our new topic this term ... SPACE!! We have had so much fun already.
Congratulation to these wonderful learners in Tī Kōuka who have done a fantastic job showing our school values this week.
This week we continued Pause, Breathe, Smile; a mindfulness wellbeing programme. We talked about lots of different feelings that we have, we listened to the story In My Heart: A Book of Feelings and talked about feelings that are in the green zone and feelings that are in the red zone.
We had so much fun celebrating the end of the year with our wheels and water day. Check out the photos below!
