Te Whare Tapa Whā- looking after our wellbeing

This week we have been exploring with the children the wellbeing concept of Te Whare Tapa Whā. The children have helped decorate their T group's whare with the 4 pillars that make up Te Whare Tapa Whā:

Taha tinana (Physical wellbeing),

The children did a great job working together using the app Book Creator to show ways they can keep their bodies healthy.

Taha wairua (Spiritual wellbeing),

The children thought of different ways they could look after their spiritual wellbeing

Taha hinengaro (mental and emotional wellbeing)

The children did a brainstorm of the things that make them happy and chose one to publish on the whare.

Taha whānau (Family and social).

In the photo frames, the children drew people who are special to them.

We talked about what would happen if one of the walls of our whare was missing. The children understood that to be happy and healthy we all need to focus on all 4 parts of wellbeing.
