Young Ocean Explorers

This week we have been learning a lot out our ocean and how we can help to reduce plastic in our seas. In class we have been singing a song called 'Young Ocean Explorers.' You can watch it at home too. Check out the link below!

Our hello song from Tī Kōuka

We have had lots of terrific learners showing manaakitanga in Tī Kōuka. Here are the children that received a certificate in our school Zoom assembly. They were spotted being fantastic manaakitanga this week.

We made a video of our Hello Song so the children can sing it at home. We are practising saying the different greetings from all the cultures in our studio.

We all may be different kinds of fish but in Huritini we swim together...

Showing manaakitanga by learning how to be a great maths buddy-

During maths sessions, we often learn with a maths buddy where we work together to solve problems.  This week we have been focusing on how to show manakitaanga and be a great maths buddy.  We brainstormed what we liked our maths buddy to say and do and what we don't like them to do.

We did activities with our maths buddy and remembered to focus on what our buddies like us to say and do.

Our Tī Kōuka Treaty

Over the past weeks we have been learning about our new school values, and how we will show those values in Tī Kōuka.

We will show Kaitiakitanga by caring for our plants and picking up rubbish. We will show Kotahitanga by sharing and helping others and being a good learning buddy. We will show Manaakitanga by respecting any 'do not touch' signs when we see them and tidying up after ourselves. We will show Manawanuitanga  by learning from our mistakes and keep on trying and we will show Whanaungatanga by asking someone to play and using an inside voice.

We made an awa that shows the values written on it and made three tī kōuka trees (one for each T group) that we signed with our names.

Wheels and Water Day
